A bit about me…

I have over 10+ years experience coaching and teaching fitness, gymnastics and yoga, specializing in a unique style of yoga that blends the discipline and grace of dance with the art of yoga. I began turning upside down at the age of 5 when I discovered gymnastics and then not long after that I was dancing day and night. I have always been an avid mover. So the stillness of yoga did not come naturally to me.

When I came into my first yoga class I was the ultimate skeptic, I didn’t think I fit in with all the images in my head of what a “yogi” was supposed to behave or look like. I’m a total rebel by nature.

But, after the long days of teaching public high school I was in desperate need of stress relief, so I gave it a chance and………I hated it! It was begrudgingly slow! I had so many thoughts. I was so squirmy. And I was not flexible. What are all the poses and how am I supposed to inhale and exhale at the right time? It was a lot. I was certain I would never step foot into a yoga studio again.

To this day I remember my first instructor. it was the kindness of the yoga teacher that brought me back. She came over to me and made me feel seen at a time in my life where I felt like nothing I did mattered. Over the course of several years it took lots of trial and error, and moving through lots of angry times in child’s pose to find the right “fit” until I landed on my unique style of what I feel is my true yoga. And then finally one day I decided to take the plunge and become a certified yoga teacher.

It has been 8+ years since my very first yoga class and the more I expand my breadth of knowledge about vast possibilities of yoga, the more I love this work. This body of work has been a place for me to feel valued, it has created emotional awareness, has helped me to work towards healing delicate mental issues like depression and anxiety, and soften into the practice of being enough. I have a long history with disordered eating and body dysmorphia and the yoga practice has been a place for me to mend and relearn how to love the body I’m in.

I practice and teach based out of these personal life experiences to the best of my ability in hopes that the practices that I offer support and nourish you from the inside out.  Yoga is a movement modality that is practiced with intention and purpose and it has the potential to be very healing for the mind and body if you want it to be. All it takes is focus, dedication and practice. Not every day is easy, but every day is worth it. I believe that it is possible for anyone to find their own place of personal peace.

If you are new to yoga and fitness, want to learn a new skill or want to dive deeper into your existing practice let me know how I can guide you. I am eager to support you in your journey no matter where you are. My goal is for you to feel empowered and strong. There is no better time to start than now!

Goals? Questions? Let’s have a warm beverage and talk!
